August 14, 2018/ Latham, NY – Earlier this month, members of the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) committee met and elected to endorse the Assemblyman Byrne in his bid for re-election in New York’s 94th Assembly District. This high profile endorsement recognizes that teachers from across the region are standing together with their other school employees, retirees, and academic faculty to support Assemblyman Kevin Byrne.
NYSUT President Andy Pallota stated that “NYSUT has been diligent in endorsing candidates whose positions and actions align with our goals.” Pallotta credited Byrne’s endorsement to his “advocacy and voting record” in the New York State Assembly. Byrne thanked President Pallota and the NYSUT membership for their endorsement and reflected on their work this past session, “By effectively advocating for our 4201 and Special Act schools, supporting social justice reforms, and voting to restore local control to our school districts, we found ways to support our teachers and their students.” said Byrne, “I want to thank the leadership and membership of NYSUT for their support in this year’s election. I look forward to accomplishing more together in the future.”
NYSUT represents more than 600,000 classroom teachers and other school employees and retirees; academic and professional faculty at the state’s community colleges, SUNY and CUNY; and other education and health care professionals in public and private employment.
