Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,I,SAM,ROS-Mahopac) spoke with constituents on Sunday, May 2 where he spent an hour for some Q & A, both in-person and virtually prior their walk along the Empire State Trail, where the conversation continued.

Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,I,SAM,ROS-Mahopac) is pleased to report the successful completion of his first Trailblazing with Byrne and Coffee with Kevin event on Sunday, May 2. The event garnered participation from a wide array of Somers constituents, including participation from Tom Garrity, Somers deputy town supervisor, and Anthony Cirieco, Somers town councilman, in addition to one of Byrne’s Assembly colleagues from across the Hudson River, Assemblyman Colin Schmitt (R,C,I,LBT,SAM-New Windsor).

Byrne met with constituents both virtually and in-person at the Jilco Window Corporation’s parking lot in Granite Springs for an hour of Q & A, which was also live-streamed onYouTube, before taking an hour-long walk along the Empire State Trail in Somers to continue the discussion, promote healthy living and take in the natural beauty. Topics of discussion included education, election law, conservation, infrastructure, executive powers, the growing list of scandals surrounding Gov. Cuomo and more. Those who participated brought value to the conversation while remaining considerateof each other’s space, doing their best to adhere to all current pandemic restrictions and social distancing requirements.

“Thank you to everyone who participated in our first Trailblazing with Byrne event of the year,” said Byrne. “It’s important to keep in contact with our neighbors about the issues that matter most to them. Fortunately, this type of event provides me an additional opportunity to safely engage with members of our community both in-person and virtually. Not only did we get the chance to discuss a wide variety of important issues, but we also got some fresh air, exercise and enjoyment from viewing the natural beauty along northern Westchester’s portion of the Empire State Trail. I’d like to thank Jilco Window Corporation for allowing us to use their parking area to host the beginning of this event. I look forward to doing similar events in the other towns within the 94th Assembly District.”
