October 16, 2018 / Yorktown, NY – On Tuesday, Assemblyman Kevin Byrne hosted a special pizza party celebration to commemorate the accomplishments of local children who participated in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge. Over 20 students from local school districts were recognized for their participation. The Summer Reading Challenge encourages children to continue their educational studies into the summer months and achieve self-set academic goals. Tuesday’s event offered the opportunity to celebrate their summer reading accomplishments.

“It was my pleasure to personally congratulating dozens of children from across the 94th District who successfully completed this year’s Summer Reading Program.” said Byrne. “This program helps us inspire children from across the region to develop their reading skills which I’m sure will lead them to many future successes.”

The Summer Reading Challenge has proven to be a valuable tool in developing better academic habits and establishing collaborative relationships between students, schools, local libraries and elected officials across the state.
