Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,I,SAM,ROS-Mahopac) is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of his 2021 SummerReading Challenge. Over twenty-five students from both Westchester and Putnam Counties took part in the program, which requires children to read for at least 15 minutes every day for forty days during thesummer to continue developing their literacy skills. The New York State Education Department’s Division of Library Development provides a suggested reading list

“Our annual Summer ReadingChallenge is one of my favorite events all year, and it was wonderful to once again hold an in-person event to honor the students,” said Byrne. “This is a fantastic program which helps us inspire the younger generation to get excited about reading and continuing their literacy development. Congratulations to all our participants and I look forward to holding this great event next year.”

Byrne held a pizza party with the students who completed the challenge on September 21st and presented them with certificates recognizing their achievement. The event was held at the Reed Memorial Library in Carmel.
