Tuesday, February 25, 2020/ Westchester County, NY – Earlier this week, the Westchester County Republican Party held its annual county-wide convention to endorse local, state and federal candidates seeking elected office. At the convention, Assemblyman Kevin Byrne once again clinched the nomination from the GOP, receiving a unanimous vote in support of his candidacy to continue serving in the NYS Legislature.
“I’m honored to once again receive the unanimous endorsement of the Westchester County Republican Committee,” said Byrne. “This past year in Albany has brought many challenges to our state. Certain special interests have already managed to seize control of Albany, now governed by one party rule, and passed downright dangerous legislation that has jeopardized public safety making law enforcement, witnesses, and victims less safe. Now more than ever, we need vocal independent voices in Albany to speak up and speak out on behalf of common sense and reason. I’ve been privileged to be that voice for the 94th Assembly District these past three years, and with the support of the Westchester GOP and others, I look forward to continuing to serve as that voice.”
Somers GOP Chair TJ McCormack first nominated Assemblyman Byrne calling him “a true champion for our principles and values.” McCormack continued, “in everything he says and does, Assemblyman Byrne has put the people of New York State first. He supports our small businesses, our entrepreneurs, our veterans and first responders. He doesn’t shy away from a fight. Kevin sticks to his principles, but remains open-minded and listens to experts in the field. Time and time again, he has proven himself to be effective in an overwhelming minority by finding partners across the aisle to work with and get things done for the people of Westchester County. In such a polarizing political time, it is vital we keep public servants like Kevin Byrne in Albany advocating for us. I enthusiastically nominate Assemblyman Byrne to continue serving us in Albany and here in Westchester County.”
Yorktown Republican Chair Kevin Byrnes (no relation) seconded the nomination saying “Assemblyman Byrne has been a lone voice warning us of the dangers of the bail reform law, and all of his warnings have proven true. The Yorktown Republican Town Committee was proud to unanimously endorse Assemblyman Byrne for re-election, as we need to keep his voice of sanity up in Albany.”
Since first being elected to the Assembly, Kevin Byrne has risen among the ranks within the state Assembly. He is the current chair of the Assembly Minority Program Committee, as well as the ranking member on the Assembly Committee on Health, and remains an active member of the Transportation, Insurance, Labor and Government Operations committees.
In less than three years, Byrne has personally introduced and passed over a dozen pieces of legislation addressing various local needs for our community, eleven of which have already been signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo, demonstrating his ability to work with people from all political backgrounds.
Assemblyman Byrne is halfway through his second two-year term serving in the Assembly. The 94th Assembly District includes the towns of Carmel, Patterson, Putnam Valley, and Southeast in Putnam County, as well as Yorktown and Somers in Westchester County.
Assemblyman Byrne has already received the unanimous support of the Putnam County Republican Committee earlier this month on February 17th in Mahopac. A formal campaign announcement is scheduled for March 14th in the Hamlet of Carmel.
Assemblyman Byrne lives in Mahopac with his wife Briana, who has a busy career as a Physician Assistant, and their rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound Tracker. You can learn more about Assemblyman Byrne and his campaign at www.byrne4putnam.com
