Distinction recognizes lawmakers who have supported New York’s farmers

On December 21, the New York Farm Bureau named Kevin Byrne as one of the state lawmakers in its annual ‘Circle of Friends.’ Each year, this honor is bestowed on New York state legislators who demonstrate a profound commitment to supporting the state’s farmers and agricultural industry.

The ‘Circle of Friends’ honor is bestowed on a legislator based on their voting record regarding issues of agricultural importance, as well as bill sponsorship and overall support of the organization’s prioritized issues. Byrne, a freshman legislator, has already proven to be a dedicated proponent for New York’s farmers, and plans to reaffirm that commitment in the coming 2018 Legislative Session.

“Supporting our state’s hardworking farmers and their families is important for our state’s economic and agricultural future,” said Byrne. “It is an honor to be named to the New York Farm Bureau’s ‘Circle of Friends.’  I look forward to continuing our work with the Farm Bureau to strengthen New York’s agricultural industry and the valuable products it provides.”

“New York Farm Bureau selected these Senators and Assembly members because of their commitment to the hard working farm families in New York. We appreciated their support on a whole host of bills and budget items this year, and we look forward to collaborating with them as a new session is about to begin. It is imperative that we work together to support local food production and the agricultural economy that benefit all New Yorkers,” said David Fisher, President of New York Farm Bureau.
