Read Across America promotes reading to children across the nation. The goal is to encourage as many students to engage in reading as possible. Read Across America’s initiative kicked off on March 2 in memory of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

“In a child’s earlier years, it’s essential to have a strong foundation built with basic literacy and reading. To help make this happen, it is important we make it fun for children to read and learn. Dr. Seuss understood that, as shown in his many fun filled stories. It was great to visit the Carmel Nursery School and to read to these young people. I’m just so happy and honored that I was able to participate in the Read Across America initiative. We all need to encourage children of all ages to actively read and learn,” said Byrne
