BYRNE REVIEWS SECOR SPILL WITH STATE DEC AND LOCAL STAKEHOLDERS

Last month a homeowner’s oil tank accidentally spilled, leaking fuel and making its way into part of Lake Secor. When Assemblyman Byrne heard the news, he drove down the following morning to view the lake before my commute up to Albany. We’ve had a real transformation since that morning.

The DEC, Town of Carmel, Putnam County Health Department, and Lake Secor Park District all came together and did an amazing job to minimize the damage and clean up the lake as quickly as possible. Fortunately, the beach was re-opened in time for the July 4th weekend.

Byrne visited Lake Secor during the cleanup with representatives from NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Town of Carmel Engineer Rich Franzetti, and Karl Brenner from the Lake Secor Park District Board.

Byrne highlighted the recovery effort as “A good example of how government can come together to solve a problem.”
