On Monday, June 25, Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,I,Ref-Mahopac) was welcomed by representatives of Peckham Materials Corp. for a tour of the organization’s plant in Carmel. Byrne’s visit provided an in-depth look at the important services Peckham provides, and offered great insight into how assistance can be provided at the state level to allow the company to continue expanding its innovative product offerings while remaining environmentally conscious and focused on benefiting our community.
Byrne was joined for his tour by Peckham Industries Vice President Gary W. Metcalf, President John Peckham and Southern Division Assistant Vice President Jeff Belval who offered the lawmaker a fascinating overview of the family-run construction material business’ history, impressive production capacity and innovative product development. During his visit, Byrne also observed trucks from Paleen working on the Route 6 repaving project onsite, an initiative Byrne has fiercely supported since taking office in 2017.
“As a member of the Assembly’s Transportation Committee, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to visit Peckham Materials’ Carmel plant, and was grateful for the chance, to learn more about this fantastic organization, and to discuss the obstacles facing our region’s state and local roads,” said Byrne. “It’s clear that more needs to be done at the state level to ensure the safety of our local roads, and moving forward I will remain committed prioritizing this important issue as our community’s representative in Albany.”
“We appreciate the Assemblyman taking the time to tour our Carmel Hot Mix Asphalt Plant. We have been serving this region for nearly 30 years, and generate tens of millions of dollars annually, which helps support our local economy and provide quality, high-paying jobs, “said John Peckham, President of Peckham Industries Incorporated. “We are fortunate to have Assemblyman Byrne taking a leadership role in ensuring the State funds its infrastructure needs.”
For nearly a century, Peckham Industries has been an industry leading manufacturer of innovative and high-quality construction materials. Peckham’s extensive network includes hot mix asphalt plants, stone quarries, bulk asphalt terminals, ready mix concrete plants and liquid and emulsion terminals throughout the Northeast.
