Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,Ref-Mahopac) was pleased to connect Marcy Wenzel, a local knitter from Brewster, with two organizations, Putnam CAP and Yorktown Love in Action, to donate the 66 hats Wenzel made in a variety of sizes and colors for those in need.
“Thanks to Marcy Wenzel, many people in need within our community will be able to keep warm as this year’s winter winds down,” said Byrne. “It was Marcy’s kindness that brought everyone together. Now, it is our turn to extend her generosity across the district.”
“I am very happy that the hats will be going to people who will get good use out of them,” said Wenzel. “I really hope that they like them and keep them warm. I was very excited to have the opportunity donate these, instead of them sitting in a box in my closet. I hope that they enjoy them.”
“Putnam CAP would like to thank Marcy Wenzel for being so caring and sharing her talent with our community,” said Judy Callahan, director of Putnam CAP. “The hats are beautiful, warm and so well made. They’ll be a great addition to our Winter Coats Program. We are also grateful to Assemblyman Kevin Byrne for making the connection between Marcy and Putnam CAP. CAP stands for Community Action Partnership – this is wonderful example of how well that works!”
“We are so grateful for the beautiful and warm hats that Marcy Wenzel hand-knitted for our organization,” said Donna Simone, director of Yorktown Love in Action. “We have many local residents that are in need of a winter hat. Marcy, we know you made these hats with LOTS of LOVE. Thank you for putting smiles on our children’s faces, warmth on their heads and love in their hearts.”
