In a Letter of Support dated June 3, 2020 the New York State Society of Physician Assistants offered praise for Assemblyman Byrne’s candidacy seeking re-election to serve the people of New York’s 94th Assembly District.

Byrne thanked the members of NYSSPA, “As someone who not only serves as the ranking member of the Assembly Health Committee, but lives with a PA who treats and cares for hundreds of patients a year, I am extremely grateful for this organization’s encouraging words.” Byrne continued, “As we discuss ways to expand healthcare capacity and increase access to healthcare, PAs remain an important part of the answer. We’ve already witnessed how this profession has helped bolster our healthcare system throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Our state should learn from the existing pandemic and appreciate that PAs are part of the answer to expand access to healthcare in general, not just in times of emergency.”

In the Letter of Support issued to Assemblyman Byrne, Maureen C. Regan, MBA, PA-C, FACHE, DFAAPA, President of NYSSPA and Delegate of the AAPA wrote, “On behalf of the Board of the NYS Society of PAs I am pleased to offer this Letter of Support as you run for re-election for the 94th Assembly District in NY. As a new generation leader in the Assembly your commitment to and advocacy of the PA Profession and the patients of NYS we serve is greatly appreciated.

As the Ranking Member of the Assembly Health Committee your voice regarding quality, accessible and financially responsible healthcare in NY and your appreciation of the role PAs play in all of these metrics is self-evident. As past Ranking Member of the Assembly Aging Committee you also have a deep appreciation of the role PAs play in taking care of this very vulnerable population, whether it be in a longterm care facility or in their home should they desire to age in place. Your very vocal support of NYSSPAs MOLST Bill will allow PAs to have necessary conversations with our patients as part of well established relationships.

Your stewardship and voice of reason during the recent public health issues in NYS is also greatly appreciated, a voice relying on facts and common sense.”
