The members of the Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) Local 1-2 proudly stands in supporting Assemblyman Kevin Byrne and strongly endorse his re-election to serve the people of New York’s 94th Assembly District.

Assemblyman Byrne thanked President Slevin and the UWUA membership for their strong endorsement, “The hard-working men and women of the UWUA do a tremendous job in providing services to the people of New York State. As someone who grew up in a UWUA household, this endorsement means a lot to me and my family. High voltage line workers are routinely ranked by groups like Forbes as one of the top ten most deadly jobs across the country. We must ensure that these hard-working men and women are treated fairly and are ensured the proper protections necessary to make their jobs as safe as possible. When it comes to Indian Point, I will continue to serve as an advocate to ensure the State does everything possible to protect the workers who have made their living at that plant, so that they can continue to live, work and raise their families here in New York State.”

UWUA Local 1-2 President James T. Slevin added, “As the son of a Utility Worker, Kevin knows full well we value hard work, honesty and sticking together in good times and bad. He stands strongly for working men and women across New York State. As an active participant of the Indian Point Closure Task Force meetings, we know he will do his utmost for the men and women of Local 1-2 who work at Indian Point, as well as all New Yorkers, to ensure that when Entergy exits New York State it will not leave a legacy of economic destruction.  We are more than assured that the people Kevin represents in his district will benefit the most with his re-election.”
