New York City’s Fire Officers Back Assemblyman Kevin Byrne for Re-Election

September 4, 2020/ New York, NY – Assemblyman Kevin Byrne continues to earn support from first responders and labor unions alike. Earlier today, the Uniformed Fire Officers Association (UFOA) announced their endorsement of the Assemblyman for re-election to represent the 94th Assembly District.

In a letter announcing the endorsement, UFOA President James Lemonda noted that Byrne received a unanimous “yes” vote from the Executive Board. Lemonda said, “Byrne has spent many years thinking about ways to build a better, brighter future for our great state. He has supported issues that are vital to the Fire Officers and other working people of our state and will continue to be an asset in the NY State Assembly.”

Assemblyman Byrne thanked the UFOA for their endorsement, saying, “I am honored and humbled by the support the UFOA has given me. As someone who has had the privilege of serving as a first responder for over ten years, I fully appreciate the challenges these brave men and women deal with on a daily basis. Throughout my time in the Assembly, I have been committed to protecting and advocating for all our first responders. I pledge to continue my commitment to them, and I thank the UFOA again for their continued support.”

The UFOA represents the 2,600 Lieutenants, Captains, Battalion Chiefs, Deputy Chiefs, Supervising Fire Marshals, and Medical Officers of the New York City Fire Department.  Their endorsement adds to an extensive list of first responder and labor unions that have publicly announced their support of Byrne’s re-election. To date, he has received endorsements from the Westchester Affiliated Police Associations, Lake Mohegan Professional Firefighters I.A.F.F. Local 2956, NYS Troopers PBA, NYS Court Officers Association, Yonkers PBA, Law Enforcement Employees Benevolent Association, Westchester County Corrections Officers Benevolent Association , Utility Workers Union of America Local 1-2, Westchester Putnam Building and Construction Trades, CSEA, Teamsters No. 456, Boilermakers Local 5 and more.
