(October 23, 2020) – The Detectives Endowment Association (DEA), the union representing the New York Police Department’s active and retired detectives, has endorsed Assemblyman Kevin Byrne for re-election. Byrne is running for his third term to represent the 94th Assembly District.
In a letter to DEA membership, DEA President Paul DiGiacomo urged them to get out and vote for Byrne. “[Byrne] understands the concerns of the working class, organized labor, and the needs of New York’s law enforcement community. During this time of anti-police sentiment, he is committed to helping us turn back the tide of anti-police legislation. This is a crucial election for our profession, and we need you to encourage your friends and family to go to the polls and vote for our endorsed candidates.”
Assemblyman Kevin Byrne said, “I am honored by the support of the DEA. The membership of the DEA has dedicated their lives to keeping people and communities safe and it’s my privilege to fight for them in Albany. Law enforcement deserves advocates throughout all levels of government. They deserve resources that will let them do their jobs to the best of their ability and an economy and labor laws that work for them. I won’t back down from protecting our men and women in blue and I thank them again, sincerely, for their support.”
